EMC has over thirty years of hydrographic surveying experience on major waterways, oceans, beaches and bays throughout the southeastern United States. Our firm has all of the necessary office and field equipment to provide the client with fully automated DGPS or RTK hydrographic surveys. Our hydrographic surveys can be performed with either dual or single frequency fathometer, multibeam, magnetometer, side-scan sonar or sub-bottom profile. EMC maintains a fleet of survey vessels with the capability to utilize any combination of these technologies in unison to produce the results needed for any application.
All hydrographic surveys are planned and checked by our in-house, certified, hydrographic surveyor.
Services Provided
MULTIBEAM HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEYS
EMC utilizes a variety of multi-beam (swath) bathymetric survey systems to satisfy the specific objectives of a client’s project. All of our survey vessels have customized transducer mounting systems to allow rapid mobilization and transit between project locations.
These systems provide high-resolution bathymetric maps of the seafloor. Anomalous features of interest, seafloor gradients, scour and sediment characteristics can be plotted quickly due to the wide sonar swath width (approximately 150° – 210°).
SINGLE BEAM SURVEYS OVERVIEW
EMC has all the equipment and software necessary to provide dual or single frequency bathymetric surveys. The firm has nine Trimble DGPS systems and twelve Odom hydrographic fathometers that can be utilized on any of our cabin boats or skiffs. Hypack software is used for project planning, data collection and post processing. With Hypack, we can pre-plan our projects with interactive base maps, alignments or x,y,z’s. These planned survey lines are used onboard the vessel to position the boat and organize the data. The soundings are then tide corrected and edited in the software; and this data can be used for volumes, sections and plan maps.

Being well equipped with the latest technologies, EMC provides high quality marine geophysical surveys that meet our client's needs. Whether it's to provide depth of cover of a pipeline or a full side-scan, multibeam, sub-bottom, magnetometer bathymetric survey of a ocean's bottom, EMC has the trained staff, the technologies, and the experience to handle any geophysical surveying and mapping project.
